Dance - Back and Beyond 2016

With many practises, lots of modifications and a ton of learning Hiringa whanau performed with amazing quality. The pictures and video below show an insight into the efforts made and fun that students had in creating and performing these dances.

S1's dance showed our learning of the beginning of life, the formation of backbone and jaw, attack and defense, bi-pedalism, gliding and flying, the fencible soldiers of New Zealand, old time schooling, modern play, virtual reality and finally the circle of life.

What an amazing and memorable way to finish 2016.

S1 have been avidly reading many novels this term. Here are a small selection of some of the reviews our students have made.

Howick Historical Trip

An amazing and educational day was had by us all! Ranging from experiencing the rules in an olden day classroom, an archaeological dig and raupo hut creations, we all enjoyed the day and left with many new ideas and understandings about life in the past.

Olympics Day 2016

Last week S1 and the whole primary school were lucky enough to have Kelly Sport host an Olympics day at our school.

The Year 5/6 students took part in sprints, tug of war and team tactics. It was a lot of fun and also very competitive.

Book Quiz 2016

Our annual book quiz really rocked!

Super S1 students went all out with their costumes and props for our team tables. It was great to see them all collaborating and co-operating to support each other. There was a real team spirit and S1 all worked together to get the job done.

Super S1 is currently learning around the big inquiry topic of 'All part of a system?' As part of our introduction we have been building our own style of Rube Goldberg machines using classroom equipment.
