Our Amazing Library

We are very lucky to have an amazing school library at Balmoral. The students in Room 30 love to visit during our class time and explore the wide range of books we have on offer.

We now have a live link to the catalogue and you can visit it from home. Check it out!

We have been reading a lot of Andy Griffiths stories in class and some of us have read Goosebumps stories as well. What are your favourite types of books? What are you reading at the moment? Let us know and we can all learn from each other.

EOTC Week

Well, we are now back at school and really sinking our brains into classroom learning. We have had some great discussions about some of the things that we were able to take part in during EOTC (Education Outside The Classroom).

Watch some of the great events on this slideshow and then tell us about these things:

- Something you really enjoyed and why.
- Something that you found tricky or challenging. What was it that made it hard? Did you overcome the challenge? How?
- Something that you are now really proud of achieving and why.
- How did you support other members in your group?

What a great learning experience Room 18!

Room 18's Pouch Pocket

On Saturday November 14th Balmoral school will be hosting their Big Day Out. This is a great day for the family, with a range of fun fair activities, food and drink, and a wonderful selection of entertainment.

As part of our learning in Term 3, Room 18 designed a technology product and chose to produce the 'Pouch Pocket'. This term they have also been studying aspects of advertisement in the form of print, sound and moving image.

Here are a few samples. If you are in Auckland ... be sure to come along to the Big Day Out and get yourself a funky Pouch Pocket.

Carey Park Camp 2009

I hope everyone has recovered from our awesome week at Carey Park Camp in Henderson Valley. The weather was great, the activities amazing and the children 100 % top class.

This task is for you to reflect, discuss, share thoughts and feelings about your experiences. Be honest and let us know about challenges you faced and over come, highlights that will stand out in your memories for years to come, or just any random thoughts you have about Carey Park Camp 2009.

Looking forward to reading your responses Room 18!

Home Work Examples

Room 18 has a range of tasks that they complete for their homework. This week students created collage examples that represent themselves, found out about the Treaty of Waitangi, completed a letter Z research assignment, as well as the usual spelling, and mathematics practice activities.

Daphney even used movie maker to make this cool video.

Here are some snapshots of our work.
