The leader in the front, the followers behind.

Ko te amorangi ki mua,

Ko te hapai o ki muri.

The Leader in the front,

the Followers behind.

This is a continuation of our rich task focus and our philosophy focus.

There may be some of you who agree, or disagree with the Maori proverb, but just like any philosophical discussion, you will need to explain your reasoning behind your response and you must also refer to, discuss or challenge another poster’s point of view.

State whether you agree? Why? Do you disagree? Why? Ask questions and explore this proverb.

I disagree with it because the leaders does not always have thier followers behind them, sometimes they don't even have followers. My question is why do people believe that most leaders have thier followers behind them?

I Disagree because Its similar to Poppy's Comment They dont always have followers behind them because for example The Egyptian President (I forgot his name ) Didn't have much followers my question is Do they have to have to follow there leader and his rules?

I disagree with poppy because in Maori culture the leader is the man who leads the tribe his people agree. they follow.

I can see this is going to be an interesting topic and we will be having some great discussion.

Poppy, you will need to reply to Milo's response and Milo you will need to say what you personally think about the proverb.

Great ideas Matthew! I am looking forward to seeing the answers to yours and Poppy's questions.

Remember to read your class mates questions and have a go at answering them.

Keep up the awesome work Room 18.

I agree with poppy because not all followers stand behind . my question is can followers stand beside the leader?

I disagree with Milo because there was probably a Maori tribe with a bad leader and his people didn't like him and didn't agree with him.
My answer to Matthew's question is that the followers don't always have to follow the leader because people who protest against the leader are definitely not following him.

I forgot to say can the leader stand behind his people to talk to them?
Poppy, The leader has power and people listen if they follow and that means that the people follow from behind.

I agree with Poppy because the followers don't always follow the leader. Sometimes the followers don't stand behind the leader if they disagree with the leaders decision.

I agree with poppy because leader does not have to have leaders to be a follower. My question is what is a leader and how do you become a leader?

I aggre with poppy because sometimes leaders have to step down from their place because of their people disagreing with them. My question is how does people make their leader step down?

Our Mihi's that we need to learn are quiet fun especially learning them at home

I agree with Khatija's because the leader might be the queen which she has body guards. My question is can leaders that have no support get support?

I agree with Matthew because they may not be in a super city like we are so they have other leaders.

I disagree with Poppy's because a leader may not have support but they will have power in some way.

My question is do people have people in front?

Oliver as you can see I have edited your posts. Please make sure that you put all of your thoughts into one. I have also edited your comment, you were not disagreeing or agreeing with peoples questions, you were responding to their statements and ideas.

Great work though and really interesting ideas.

I agree with Poppy because leaders dont always have followers BEHIND them - one thing good leaders can do is make people not really feel like they are following them - an example of this is in sport where the captain says the whole team is important and they couldn't have won without everyone.

My question is are followers just as important as leaders and if so why are followers followers and leaders leaders? Is it because leaders are more well known?

My answer to poppys question is when you say LEADER you think of a person in front e.g following the leader (the game) and when you say FOLLOWER you think of someone following the leader.

I agree with Milo because I think he means that people will follow if they believe their leader or think they are doing the right thing. Some people might be called leaders because they are the Boss or in charge but it doesn't mean they are good leaders or that people like them or follow e.g the Egyptian president. I think a leader is someone people want to follow. So they will be in front.

Hi its me again. My question is how do dictators get in power if people hate them?

i agree with poppy because the leaders dont always have their followers behind my question is can the leader give up his whole lead to a follower

rachel said...

I agree because if the leader is not good how did he become a leader.so the best one should be in the front.

lacroix said...

I think that the leaders are in front the follows are behind because one time the leaders had to be a follower

Luke said...

I disagree because a follower might be doing something that the leader wants him/her to do like guide the leader which makes the leader becomes a follower and the follower the leader at that time.

Hey Room 18. So cool to see most of us posting. Now your job is to answer some of those questions you have all been asking.

Answer those questions and of course say whose question it is that you are answering.

I will answer Matthew's interesting question. I think that most leaders have co-operative personal skills, power and also leadership skills to find the support of others.

In the case of the Egyptian President I feel that he once was a man that everyone loved and agreed with, even though he was a dictator and not a leader like the kind that we know. He ruled by having the military on his side and also had the people of the country to believe in him. But as we know now, this can change.

I think that followers must follow the rules in some cases and if they don't they are going to be arrested, injured or in some places even killed for not following the leaders rules. In these places then I see that the followers are forced to follow.

In other cases, the people follow or agree with the leader. They then support the leader and the leaders ideas. They choose to follow the leaders rules by choice.

Keep answering and posting Room 18.

You are the best!

I agree with poppy because the leader could be behind the followers,or the leader could be in the middle of the followers. And some leaders don't have followers.

I agree with poppy because the leader dosen't have to be in the front always in some tribes there are people in front of the leader and some leaders are in the middle with people in front and people behind but in some tribes the leader is in the front and the followers are behind so I agree and disagree

I agree with khatija and Poppy because I don't think the leader is always in the front because sometimes he might be in the middle talking to them all
