Room 18 are currently preparing for their final speech for this term.
They have all made amazing progress in their understandings of what makes a great speech. The concept for these speeches is Turangawaewae, in which children explore their own family history, culture, origin and what makes themselves so unique.
Tūrangawaewae is one of the most well-known and powerful Māori concepts. Literally tūranga (standing place), waewae (feet), it is often translated as ‘a place to stand’. Sourced from: http://www.teara.govt.nz
In this post Room 18, please write the final version of your introduction to your Turangawaewae speech.

This is the best intro got and I'm using it for my 'Turangawaewae' speach.So here it is:
For many years I have been living, learning and filling up my bucket; one thing I didn't realise, I don't know anything about my ancestors.
As I asked myself:
"WHO AM I? WHO CAME BEFORE ME?"
I started to wonder if I could still answer these questions.
I knew that I might someday but I doubt it. I never knew the people who came before me, who created my family and - who created me.
Without those special and important people, I would never exist.
Although I know my family; they are very close to me, I still don't know everything.
Now I am truly determined to strech my brain , and make some room for new information about me and my whole family.
'Turangawaewae' the place where I stand, like a million raindrops all falling at the deep blue sea.

I'm giving some feed back to Svetlana's speach.
You know how Andrew said that we can't use "HI MY NAME IS" on our speach, I think you kind of have it on your speach.Because "KIA ORA"
Is just another way to say "HI MY NAME IS", but in Maori language.
I noticed some spelling errors on your intro; but same as my post, I was in a hurry so I didn't check my work before publishing it.My error is pretty obvious. I wish I could edit my post.

Turangawaewae? If you had asked me what that meant at the start of this term, you wouldn't have got an answer. I now know that Turangawaewae means 'the place I stand' and it includes my culture, history, family, me and my country. So, lets get started.
